On September 28, 2026, Launch Shots founder Ajay Sivan looked back on nine months of selling a tool for App Store and Google Play screenshots. The useful part of his update is less the headline customer count than the path to it.

A $29 paywall became the product brief

While preparing his own app listing, Sivan spent half an hour editing a screenshot template. Exporting it required a $29 monthly subscription. He wanted to pay for the occasional export rather than keep another design-tool subscription running, so he built Launch Shots around free downloads, credit top-ups and one-time passes. The editor has since grown to include templates, device frames and direct store uploads.

Three months to the first payment

Sivan says it took more than three months to get a paying customer. A Product Hunt launch brought more than 150 sign-ups in a day, but sign-ups were not the same as sales. He later reduced a free allowance from three credits a month to one because, in his account, the original allowance covered most users' needs and held back conversions. He also tried search ads and said their economics did not work for a product dominated by one-off purchases.

The nine-month result

By the September update, Sivan reported more than 250 paying customers in over 50 countries and about $2,700 in total revenue. Only 16 were subscribers; the rest bought credits or one-time passes. Those are founder-reported figures, not audited sales data.
